FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Answered by Founder and President Jeanie Smith

How is the size of the exclusive territory determined?

We’re looking for an area that contains the right demographic (families with young children) in the right quantity and the number we use is based on our knowledge of the marketplace gained from operating the original Kids Incorporated Learning Centers businesses for many years. We take a close look at the area and study the demographics, then we calculate how large the territory has to be in order for it to contain the potential customers that you need.

How long has Kids Incorporated Learning Centers
been in business?

I’ve owned and operated Kids Incorporated childcare centers in the Mesa, Arizona, area since 1988, I have 30 years of experience in the childcare and learning industry.

Does Kids Incorporated Franchising, Inc., operate company-owned businesses?
Yes. I still operate the two original Kids Incorporated Learning Centers and I view their continued success as a clear indicator of how good the basic concept is. For the future we are committed to expanding through franchising with the original centers continuing to provide inspiration for the franchise network.

What does a Kids Incorporated Learning Centers franchised business offer instead of doing this on my own?
As with any good franchise, an existing name/brand awareness, established business practices, proven advertising program, operational procedures, established teaching tools, successful and profitable business plan, technical support, buying power, and industry recognition and support. Unique to our industry is trust; we are asking parents to let us care for the most precious thing they have – their children. It’s difficult to gain that sort of relationship, it takes time. Our commitment to carefully choosing the right people to own and operate our franchise businesses is part of the continuing bond of trust we have with all parents, everywhere.

What kind of training is available?
Training will be provided at the franchise owner’s facility and will last for a minimum of one week. Because every member of the franchise network represents every Kids Incorporated center, the quality of our training is critical. Which is why, wherever possible, I like it to be delivered by my core team. Of course we continue to train and support our franchise owners in an on-going fashion.

What if I don’t have any business ownership experience?
I happen to believe that being a good fit with our principles and philosophy is more important than previous business experience, but to help fill any gaps we offer business coaching and training in all aspects of owning and operating a Kids Incorporated Learning Centers Franchised Business, including marketing, sourcing supplies, curriculum, nutritional and teaching techniques, use of facility, staffing, and more.

Can I sell my business?
Yes, but with a reasonable caveat. Just as you were carefully selected we need to apply the same criteria to any potential buyer in order to protect the quality of our network.

How long does it take to open a Kids Incorporated Learning Centers franchised business?
Every site and every franchise owner’s circumstances are different, but the typical length of time to open and begin operation of a Kids Incorporated Learning Centers facility is currently six to twelve months from the time that the building permit is issued from the local governing city, or six to nine months from the time you obtain the key to a leased premise.

What territories are open?
This is difficult to answer on a fixed Q&A page – there are territories available so why not give us call or send an email and we will be happy to let you know.
